Create a cube
To create a model you use the Create New Cube feature in Model Manager.
- In the left-side panel, click Create New Cube.
- Type a Name for the model.
- Select a type:
Generic
Includes only the basic dimensions and therefore can be customized more easily.
Mandatory dimensions: Account, Time, Version, and Time Perspective.
Optional dimensions: Geography, Allocation, Classification, and Other.
Exchange Rate
A model for storing foreign exchange rate information for use in currency conversion. Typically used in conjunction with a Generic model.
Mandatory dimensions: the same as Generic, plus Geography and Currency.
Optional dimensions: none.
Detailed Planning (General)
A model for a generic detailed planning application.
Mandatory dimensions: the same as Generic, plus Detailed Planning Object and Allocation.
Optional dimensions: Geography, and Other.
Detailed Planning (Personnel)
A model for a personnel planning application.
Mandatory dimensions: the same as Generic, plus Employees and Allocation.
Optional dimensions: Geography, and Other.
- If you want the model to include currency, select Include currency conversion (this adds Currency and Geography).
- In the Dimensions section, for each mandatory dimension, do any of the following:
- To select an existing dimension of that type, click .
- To create a new dimension of that type, click .
Optionally, edit the Display name (up to 100 characters).
Note: You can only change the display name for an existing Time dimension if its original has been deleted.
- To add other dimensions, beside Optional do any of the following:
- To select an existing dimension of that type, click .
- To create a new dimension of that type, click .
- Click Create.
Tip: You can use Process Manager to import data or dimension structures to the model.
