Reporting

FP&A provides for both formal and informal reporting, using multiple dimensions to create unique views and analyses.

You can create quick, informal reports, just as you would in a spreadsheet, using Ad Hoc Analysis and then export the resulting report to a PDF file. You can design the screen layout yourself, or begin with a saved layout (known as a data view).

You can create formal, boardroom-quality reports from templates, using Template Studio. Templates support drill-through and pivot-table-like functionality, and more.

If a data view contains supporting detail in line item schedules, you can see them in a line item schedule report. Administrators can also create custom line item reports.

Tip:  If you create an informal report in Ad Hoc Analysis and then decide that you want to use it for a formal report, you can import the data view to a template.

Do my reporting needs affect my model?

They can. Models used for reporting are created in the same way as a budgeting model. However, reporting models often require additional dimensions that are not necessarily included in a budgeting model; for example, a reporting model may include dimensions such as Product, Customers or other non-financial business factors.

Note:  Additional dimensions cannot be added to existing models; however, new models can use those existing dimensions. If you want to use the same Account, Time, and Version dimensions from an existing model, in New Cube Wizard select from the list of existing dimensions.

Use Case:  How to create a monthly reporting package.
